fairies
i have decided to spend more time with my kids, and do away with the computer for a while. i am still taking photos though, and i try to be more experimental this time, avoiding the use of auto settings.
tonight, as i put my little ones to sleep after reading them a fairytale, i noticed these two fairies (one sitting [photos 1&2] and one standing with the long hair [photo 3] on their tallboy. with subdued light from their night lamp, i explored different depths of field. photo number 2 appears blurry than i had hoped for. i want to blame camera shake...haha! and photo number 3 has made me realize this fairy actually looked weird rather than cute, up this close.
if there's one thing i've learned, it's that, there is still so much to learn about photography. the more you learn, the more exciting it is for the one learning. i am enjoying this even though i feel i have not improved much at all. never mind, it goes to prove, it is not the end result that matters, but the journey to get there.

you're doing good on this keth.
my fave is #1 [like the subdued lighting and the light angled the face of the angel]and #3 [you got the DOF feel in this one]. i think that's why photo #3 looks weird because there is no nose... hehehe.
hi cinds, thank you so much for your input. appreciate it. and you're right, number 3 doesn't have a nose...haha!
by the way cinds, i've been trying to leave comments on your posts last night, but it wouldn't let me. i'll try again today.
I don't know what you mean by not improving much at all! Your photos are great and they're getting better and better each time. I think all of us learn and we shouldn't stop learning. Even professional photographers learn! :-)
keth, you're doing a great job experimenting with different settings! you totally got the DOF thingy on the first photo. and the pink hues -- so girly! lovely.
let's never stop learning! :-)
oh liz, you are most kind. thank you. i just personally think i haven't improved much because compared to your photos and everyone else's here, they're the most amateur. but if there's one thing i am most grateful for, it's having known you and everyone here because you all have inspired me to be better.
jops, thanks for always saying the nicest things. i have you to thank for because you have inspired me to try and improve my work, to look at things differently now,and also because of you, i have met these amazing people that i feel now are my friends...and because we have not actually met, i am just content in calling them my virtual friends...but nontheless, good friends.
